Cognition Athletic Network is a business platform licensed to college athletic departments. Its users are department staff, such as general managers, coaches and compliance and development personnel. Student-athletes are not users of the platform and are not issued accounts.
Two different groups, treated differently.
Users. The people who sign in. For each account we hold a username and email address, a role, which program or programs the account may see, a password stored only as a salted PBKDF2-SHA256 hash, and session records. Actions that change recorded data are written to an activity log with the acting account, a timestamp and the originating public IP address. If a user submits feedback from the app we store the message together with the screen they were on, the app version and the device model.
Student-athletes. The subjects of the analysis. This covers identity, school, position, listed measurables, per-season statistics and, where published, hometown and date of birth. Athletes do not provide this to us directly.
Some fields exist only because a member of staff at the program recorded them, for example academic standing, handedness, injury status, eligibility details, and revenue-share or third-party name, image and likeness amounts. Every such entry is attributed to the account that made it and is visible only to that program. Where a fact has not been recorded, the platform displays "not recorded" rather than estimating it.
High-school recruits covered by the platform may be under 18. We do not collect information from minors directly, we do not offer them accounts, and we do not contact them. What the platform holds about a high-school recruit is limited to information already published by the recruiting sources listed above, together with entries made by staff at the program recruiting them. Narrative summaries for high-school recruits are generated only from those recorded profile facts, and the platform is built so that statistics or personal attributes are never invented for a named individual.
To provide the platform to the licensed program: roster and recruiting analysis, projections, retention and eligibility support, compensation record-keeping, and reporting. Projections, valuations and fit scores are modeled estimates and are labelled as modeled wherever they appear.
Each program sees only its own recorded data. That separation is enforced on the server for every request, not in the interface. Where the platform shows market context drawn from other programs, it is aggregate only, carries no names or identifiers, excludes the viewing program, and is withheld entirely unless at least three distinct programs contribute to the figure.
Player summaries are written by Anthropic's Claude model, reached through Microsoft Azure AI Foundry, from data already recorded in the platform. Generated text is cached and attributed to the model that produced it. Summaries are not used to make automated decisions about any individual.
We do not sell information held in the platform. It is disclosed only to the infrastructure and model providers required to operate it, namely Microsoft Azure for hosting and Anthropic through Azure AI Foundry for summary generation, and where we are legally required to disclose it.
The platform runs on Microsoft Azure. Connections between its components use Managed Identity and private networking rather than shared credentials, traffic to the platform is encrypted with TLS, passwords are stored only as hashes, and mobile sessions use short-lived bearer tokens with rotating refresh tokens that are revoked on reuse.
Information is retained while the program remains a customer. Licensed Sportradar data is destroyed on termination of that licence, and audit records relating to its use are kept for six years as the licence requires. Activity and audit logs are retained so that recorded changes remain attributable.
Because the platform is operated on behalf of the licensed athletic department, requests about information held for a program should be directed to that department. You may also write to us at Support@CognitionAthletics.com and we will work with the department to respond.
Beta testing. This application is in beta distribution to staff at licensed programs. Beta builds send diagnostic information to Apple under Apple's own privacy policy, and in-app feedback reaches us with the app version and device model attached, as described above.
If this policy changes we will update the effective date above. Material changes will be communicated to the licensed programs.
